Extraordinary. That is a great way to describe Ira Gitlin. When you go to Festivals you often see there is a Kids Academy. Here children learn to play music....together. Often a child would arrive hardly knowing how to play their instrument and within a few days- a few hours a day-they perform. And it is amazing. Often times a tear jerker.
Who runs these educational events? Ira Gitlin is the lead organizer for The Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival and Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival. He assists at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. He is a Wernick Method Instructor. He gives private lessons and is co-organizer and runs Bluegrass Week at Augusta Heritage Center.
